Classe Ink

Escaping the other site — reading at my own pace, in my own space.

Welcome to my quiet corner of the internet — a small, personal library built with BookWyrm, where I can track what I’m reading, write notes for myself, and share thoughts with a few friends.

I created Classe Ink because I wanted to escape from the “other” site — the one that turned reading into algorithms, ads, and endless engagement. I missed the feeling of my reading [and my data] being mine.

Here, there are no metrics to chase and no pressure to perform. Just books, ideas, and the joy of keeping my own notes about them. BookWyrm lets me do that while still connecting, if I choose, with the wider fediverse — but on my own terms, in a space I control.

What you’ll find here

  • My reading log, reviews, and occasional reflections
  • Lists of favorites and comfort reads
  • Highlights, half-finished thoughts, and quiet enthusiasm for books

What you won’t find

  • Advertisements
  • Algorithmic recommendations
  • Ranking systems or “engagement” metrics

Closing note

Thanks for visiting. If you’re here as a guest or invitee, welcome — pull up a chair, make yourself comfortable, and bring a good book.

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 18, 2025
Instance: Classe Ink

Classe Ink is a privately operated BookWyrm instance, maintained by a single individual for personal use and invited guests. It is not a company, does not sell services, and is not intended for general public registration.

1. What data we collect

BookWyrm stores only the information needed to make the site function properly:

  • Account information — username, display name, email address, and password (hashed).
  • Content you create — posts, reviews, comments, lists, ratings, imported books, and uploaded images.
  • Technical data — IP addresses and user-agent strings recorded in access logs (kept briefly for troubleshooting and security).
  • Federated content — when you interact with other BookWyrm or ActivityPub servers, relevant metadata and public content are cached here temporarily.

2. How the data is used

  • To operate your account and display your content.
  • To send email notifications you request (for example, password resets).
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the site.
  • To interact with other federated servers if you follow or share content beyond this instance.

No data is sold, monetized, or used for advertising.

3. Federation and sharing

BookWyrm is part of the fediverse — a network of independently operated servers. If you post publicly or follow accounts on other servers, copies of your posts and profile information may be transmitted to those servers. Once shared, those servers control their own copies. If your content or account is deleted here, remote servers may still retain cached versions.

4. Cookies

Cookies are used only for essential login sessions and user preferences. No analytics or tracking cookies are set.

5. Data retention and deletion

  • Access logs are automatically deleted after a short period (typically a few days).
  • You may delete your own posts or your account at any time.
  • Backups are stored securely and rotated; deleted data may persist in backups until the next rotation.

6. Security

  • Passwords are stored using strong cryptographic hashing.
  • Connections use HTTPS (TLS encryption).
  • Administrative access is limited to the site owner.

No system is perfectly secure, but reasonable technical measures are taken to prevent unauthorized access.

7. Your rights

As this is a small, private instance, formal data-subject rights (such as GDPR requests) are handled informally: simply email admin@classe.ink if you would like your data exported or erased.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect configuration or legal changes. When it is updated, the “Effective date” above will be changed.

Summary

Classe Ink is a private reading log, not a commercial service. Your data stays here unless you intentionally share it with other parts of the fediverse.
